Upon Reflection – How Nature Paints Itself
In this two day workshop:
Upon Reflection is the natural world casting its image onto the surface of water. We can find clarity when on still water the image is crystalline. On a windy day one might see a mirror in shards, blown by the wind. Reflections can be a major part of what makes a painting compelling.
Reflections are a major part of what makes water look like water.
Demonstrations and instruction will zero in on the landscape and how it appears to the artist.
Demo day 1: a mirrored reflection on still water followed by painting time for each participant.
Demo day 2: reflections in moving water such as a stream followed by painting time.
Expect to work from photos and or sketches to compose your design, first in your sketchbook and then transcribing it to your watercolor paper. You will then have the opportunity to use your watercolors to complete the painting.
